What is the best way to soften linens in the washing machine?
I bought new 400 thread count bed linens, but they are not as soft as I expected. It must be cheaper cotton. How can I make them softer? I've washed them once already, but they are still rough. Is there anything I can put in the washing machine besides fabric softener to make them softer? Please advise. Thank you.
I use vinegar and it softens well. If you find you are picking up the oder of vinegar on your clothes you can use a few drops each of lavender and lemon essential oils with the vinegar. A very pretty and fresh scent.
I have a friend who will swear, the cheapest and way to go is to use hair conditioner. She uses a little squirt of the cheap hair conditioner on a rag thrown in with the clothes. Apparently it eliminates static, smells good and makes clothes soft.
